Lana Springs Fish Farm: The Fast-Growing English Carp

Lana Springs is a Cefas-registered fish farm situated 7 miles east of Holsworthy in Devon. It was developed in 2004 specifically to produce fast-growing English carp. We chose this location for its warm, wet climate and its natural spring water supply.
This natural water supply is essential for a disease-free environment. Most fish farms rely on rivers and streams to fill their lakes. These water sources can carry harmful parasites, diseases, and water quality issues. Our spring water is free from these problems, giving our fish a healthy place to thrive.
Unmatched Biosecurity
Our on-site biosecurity measures are second to none. We do not buy other people’s unwanted fish, and we do not allow outside fish or unauthorized visitors on site.
Cefas inspects our site and records each year. They have never found anything other than healthy, well-kept fish. They often comment that their job would be much easier if all fish farms were kept to the standard of Lana Springs. This gives our customers total peace of mind when stocking their lakes with our fish.

Protection and Sustainability

  • Perimeter Fencing: The entire 54-acre farm is fenced to keep out otters and mink.
  • Predator Protection: Lakes with younger fish are protected from herons and cormorants.
  • Environmental Care: We planted broadleaf trees on all land unsuitable for fish farming helping us become carbon neutral.
  • Carbon Neutral: A substantial 50kw solar system was installed meaning the entire fish farm is totally off grid and completely self sustainable, we retain the grid connection as we feed some surplus back in to the grid and its also handy as back up just in case we need to shut down for maintenance etc.
Here at Lana Springs Fish Farm, we are passionate about carp. We strive to produce the best stock possible, and the welfare of our fish always comes first.
